The Sparky Project

BLACKHeartII.jpg

The Sparky Project was an art collaboration between Nelson, his dog Sparky and over 100 artists. Sparky and Nelson meet in 1994. Sadly, Sparky passed away in August of 2009, but he will always be loved and remembered...

A memorial exhibition titled Unconditionally Sparky will take place at Envoy Enterprises, 131 Chrystie Street, NYC on September 30, 2009.    The one day exhibition opens 12-6pm  with a reception from 6-8pm.

Over 100 artists created portraits or tributes of Sparky and joined the Sparky Fan Club. The artwork is part of the permanent collection of the Sparky Project. The first group exhibition of The Sparky Show was held at Schroeder Romero / Winkleman Gallery Project Space in New York during the summer of 2008.

Sparky and Nelson meet in California and have also lived in Tucson, Chicago, and New York. Nelson is an artist living in Brooklyn. Sparky was his best friend, muse, longtime companion and partner in crime. Sparky passed away in August 2009. He was approximately 17 years old (though he never revealed his real age). Nelson will be forever grateful for the 15 wonderful years of love and joy he shared with him and so many other. Sparky will always be in my heart and by my side...
